Air Table

Mechanics is the motion of objects. Motion is the changing of position as time goes on and therefore in order to describe the motion of objects we firstly need to measure these two physical quantities: position and time. Using the measurement results of position and time we can calculate the other physical quantities like displacement (change in position), velocity and acceleration.

The air table is a simple but elegant apparatus, which permits a time trace of the motion by the spark recording technique with almost complete absence of friction. By performing this experiment you will be able to observe the relationship between the position, time and velocity in your VR Laboratory.
