HS-PS4-4: Evaluate the validity and reliability of claims in published materials of the effects that different frequencies of electromagnetic radiation have when absorbed by matter.
3.11 Spectroscopy and the Electromagnetic Spectrum
Categories: Medical Biochemistry Laboratory
Spectroscopy examines interaction between light and matter. As light passes through a solution, some of its energy is trapped by the matter in the solution. This leads to a decrease in light intensity. In this experiment, we will plot a standard graph by measuring the absorption of solutions of known concentrations. Then, we will use this graph to find the concentration of an unknown solution.
Determine the double bonds in fatty acids qualitatively and make the qualitative determination of cholesterol by a chemical method.
Classify carbohydrates and define terms reducing sugar and glycosidic bond. Fehling reaction will be depending on the properties of the saccharides.
Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins! Unique chemistry of each amino acid posesses the functional and structural properties of proteins.
